Observation Notes
This cross section was prepared using a RapidTome at roughly 10Ξm thickness and left unstained.
Key Structures
- Epidermis â single layer of tightly packed cells with a waxy cuticle.
- Parenchyma â ground tissues surrounding the collenchyma characterized by their thin primary cell walls. This is the most common tissue type in seed plants.
- Collenchyma â structural tissues characterized by having only primary cell walls. These cell walls are unevenly thickened, differentiating the collenchyma into different types. This is the least common tissue type in seed plants.
